It’s almost like talking to a person. Depending on the question, you will get completely different answers, some more objective, others broader.

ChatGPT is a communication-based Artificial Intelligence application. Therefore, to get the results you expect, you also need to communicate correctly with it.

And all of this goes through ChatGPT prompts. There is no right way to create them, but some simple techniques will help you get much better results for your production using Artificial Intelligence.

This text is about that. I brought some techniques with examples to help you, and also some examples of the best prompts separated by some specific categories — both for B2B and B2C.

They are the ones who will decide what the tool’s applications are. They will guide you through the mysteries of Artificial Intelligence and deliver results according to what you expect and need.

But before we delve deeper into this subject, how about we talk a little about the best ways to use ChatGPT today?

Later in the text we will talk in more depth about how exactly to apply the tool to deliver exactly what you need.

ChatGPT prompts for marketing: features and applications

There are several marketing features within ChatGPT. Mainly those focused on content production.

Some of the most obvious ChatGPT prompts for marketing involve:

  • Production of emails; 
  • Creation of subtitles; 
  • Ideas for posts; 
  • Review of blog texts; 
  • Simple blog texts to generate leads; 
  • Scripts for simple videos; 
  • Institutional texts for folders and banners.

It’s important to note, though, that ChatGPT is still a very basic tool. Several of these materials can even be done with it, but the quality of the prompts needs to be high and the review extensive.

So, the tool appears much more like support from writing professionals dedicated to the service. This way, you can speed up your production while maintaining good quality.

Using for work routine

But not everything ChatGPT does necessarily has to have direct results for its customers or turn into a business.

It can also be used to facilitate some day-to-day tasks at work. Simple and clear tasks, with due review.

I once asked ChatGPT to write a fable about an ant and a spider in the style of the Vikings series. The result was really cool, but it was only improved by the changes I requested.

I asked it to shorten the 500-word text it gave me and I read each result just to have fun with the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence. It managed to deliver a coherent result up to 20 words.

Anyone who likes to chat and experiment with Artificial Intelligence can have a lot of fun with ChatGPT. But be careful: you can waste hours talking to it 😅

What are ChatGPT prompts?

ChatGPT prompts are basically how you ask it to give you anything. These are the instructions that you give to the system and that it will follow in preparing the response.

These prompts are the most important part of ChatGPT. Not just because they make the system work, but because they also determine how the system works.

If you ask, for example, for a summary of a book in 1,000 words, it will give you exactly that.

But if you ask for a summary based on a theory from another author and now with 3,000 words, the result will be completely different.

ChatGPT prompts are the basis of a good result with the tool. Only with them is it possible to receive not only a good text, but a text suitable for what you want.

There are several ways to create your ChatGPT prompts. In the topic below we will explore some of them and test them too.

How to create a good ChatGPT prompt?

As we’ve been talking about so far, there is no universal way to create good prompts in ChatGPT. They simply emerge according to their purposes.

But there are some more professional ways to create them to encourage good responses. As simple and friendly as ChatGPT may seem, it matches your communicative level.

In other words: the answer is as good as your question.

Just as there is no “right way” to talk to someone, there are specific ways of asking people questions that will deliver more interesting and elaborate answers.

In fact, all areas of communication work exactly like this. Think about copywriting, for example. Selling is talking, right? There is no right way to talk, but there is a right way to write to sell.

This is what guides understanding how to create good ChatGPT prompts. Anything goes in the tool, but if your goal is to really have the best answers possible, you can take some actions that will help you be more successful.

I separated some of these actions here and brought some before and after examples too, let’s take a look at it:

Action word

There are differences in the way you ask that will directly impact your answer. One of these differences is in the use of an action word.

The action word may not even be a word, but an entire sentence or the way to start the question.

Take, for example, a ChatGPT prompt that doesn’t use an action word: “what’s the secret to a successful startup?”

“The success of a startup is the result of a complex combination of factors, and there is no single definitive secret that guarantees success. However, there are several practices and approaches that can increase a startup’s chances of thriving. Here are some key elements that many successful startups share:”

After that, it brings me a list of 10 points that guarantee the success of a startup. The version with the action word is different: “show me how to start a successful startup today”

“Starting a successful startup requires planning, dedication and strategic action. Here are the steps you can take to start your journey:”

Now it is delivering me a very different result: it is telling me what I need to do to set up my startup, a much more actionable, direct and objective result.

It’s always a good idea to use action words when you want a response like this. “Explain to me”, “bring examples”, “how to do it” etc. These are great starts.

But the next item expands on this a little more. Look:

Offer references

A reference in this case concerns the context you give to your message. 

A lot of people complain that ChatGPT is very generic, but that’s because the lack of references makes any text look generic. 

These examples from the previous item are quite generic. These are lists that you can find on any SEO blog on the internet, and that most likely will not be able to take a startup from scratch to success. 

But if you add a little more references, the text becomes much more specific. Let’s, for example, ask “How to create a startup in the food sector, specifically in the frozen segment, focusing on seafood”. 

The answer is quite different: 

“Creating a startup in the food sector, focusing on frozen seafood products, involves several specific steps. Here is a guide to guide you:

  1. Market Research and Validity :
    • Market research: Analyze demand for frozen seafood products in your region. Identify your direct and indirect competitors.
    • Validity of concept: Test acceptance of products through samples, surveys or pre-sales.
  2. Product Development :
    • Variety of products: Determine what types of seafood will be offered, such as shrimp, fish, squid, mussels, etc.
    • Quality and sourcing: Ensure your products are of high quality and come from reliable, sustainable sources.
  3. Suppliers and Logistics :
    • Sourcing Partners: Establish partnerships with seafood suppliers who can provide fresh, quality products.

I put the entire answer so you can see that it is much more specific this way. 

The items mention work, products and, although some points still remain a little generic, the level of interaction with your question is much greater. 

In these cases, ChatGPT stops being a text generator and becomes a very effective advisor. But it is possible to go further with the prompts. See the next level in-depth:

Seek immersion

Never forget ChatGPT’s idea generator feature. It’s not just for creating interesting texts that can be used for your marketing. One of its main functions is to help you think and create. 

Immersion mainly refers to the work of asking ChatGPT to insert himself into the situation and work with it as if he were actually experiencing the situation firsthand. 

Let’s go back to our startup example, but now in addition to referencing, let’s try to ask ChatGPT to position itself as the owner of the startup, two years after it became successful. 

The ChatGPT prompt here will be “As the owner of a food startup in the frozen seafood sector, tell me the main actions that led you to success 2 years after founding the company”. 

This is the result: 

“Two years after founding our frozen seafood startup, our success is the result of a careful combination of customer- and quality-focused strategies and efforts. Firstly, we have developed a diverse and irresistible portfolio of seafood products while maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and sustainable sourcing.

Our dedication to innovation has allowed us to create practical and attractive packaging that maintains product freshness. We invest heavily in digital marketing, leveraging social networks and relevant content to build an engaged community and convey our brand values.

We have established strategic partnerships with local supermarkets, restaurants and delivery services, significantly expanding our reach. We listen carefully to customer feedback, adapting our products and processes based on their preferences and needs.

Okay, this isn’t a great guide on what to do, but the extra level of immersion helps you put yourself in the shoes of someone who tried and succeeded. 

Be specific

Throughout these items we have provided several examples of how to be specific in your ChatGPT prompts. 

The secret to creating them is to always commit to this specificity. And it will present itself to you in many different ways. 

In the examples we gave, we are talking more about long, informative content that seeks to bring ideas to business, etc. 

But in the production of content, which we will discuss a little later in the text, specificity also speaks volumes. 

Always try to say what your needs are. For example: “create a deep-funnel email seeking to approach leads who have already accessed my website, asked for a quote and did not respond”. 

In the example prompts we will talk a lot more about this. Being specific means telling ChatGPT exactly what you need. And when evaluating the result, always keep this reference in mind. 

Offer examples

ChatGPT prompts don’t have to be just orders — do it and do it now! 

You can talk a lot with the tool to arrive at your final result. That’s where examples come in. 

Look at this test. I asked ChatGPT to offer me 5 bottom-of-the-funnel headline ideas for frozen products, and this was the result: 

  • “Discover the Taste of Frozen Freshness”;
  • “Make Your Meals Easier with the Magic of Freezing”;
  • “Transform Your Kitchen into a Gourmet Bistro”;
  • “Health and Freshness Meet Freezing”;
  • “Save Time, Not Taste”;

They are ok headlines, with only the last one being relatively impactful. The others are quite generic. 

But I offered ChatGPT examples taken from our text with 100 examples of validated ads for B2B and B2C, focusing on online ads. And the result was quite different: 

  • “Parade of Flavors in Your Feed: Try Our Frozen Products!”;
  • “From the Comfort of Your Home to the Irresistible Frozen Flavor!”;
  • “Frozen Foods that Make You Smile: Try Now and Enjoy Later!”;
  • “Savor Guilt-Free: Frozen Products with Uncomplicated Cashback!”;
  • “From Busy Days to Delicious Dinner: Frozen Products for Every Occasion.

Some of the examples I used include Cashback, one of which talks about “doing something now and reaping the rewards later” and several also talk about the “comfort of home” and reference the reader’s feed. 

That’s why these other examples came out so specific: ChatGPT is adapting to the tone of voice in the examples I provided. 

You can do the same and create a real factory of simple headlines for your ads by taking advantage of the power of examples for ChatGPT. 

Determine the size of the answer

This is a basic point about ChatGPT that many people end up ignoring — you can determine exactly how many words your result will have. 

This is done directly in the ChatGPT prompts. Over time, you will get so used to asking for the number of words that “in X words” will appear naturally in all your requests to the AI. 

ChatGPT’s strengths and weaknesses are the quantity of words it delivers by default. By using the internet as your main source of data, content marketing is your greatest teacher. 

And content marketing is naturally very verbose because its purpose is most often at the Top of the Funnel , where longer explanations are quite necessary. 

So, for many things you ask ChatGPT, the answer will usually be very long. But think about the purpose of what you need and ask for a size. 

I made some estimates based on my own use of ChatGPT below. Follow me: 

  • For a simple email: 100 words; 
  • For a long blog text: 700 words; 
  • For a simple video script: 350 words; 
  • For a quick explanation on any topic: 50 to 100 words; 
  • For a sales pitch: 150 words; 
  • For a WhatsApp message: 30 to 50 words. 

But make your own estimates. It is important to relate what you need to the material that will be delivered. 

And always remember that you can ask ChatGPT to decrease or increase the number of words in any result it produced, ok? 

Make chain prompts

Here in these last three items we are treating ChatGPT prompts as something more, something different: a real conversation. 

Making chain prompts is simply continuing this conversation, keeping the results that ChatGPT delivers to you as a reference. 

You don’t need to create a completely new ChatGPT prompt every time. If the first result was not satisfactory, think about what exactly was not satisfactory and ask ChatGPT to change some points here and there. 

As a result, you end up exceeding your own expectations about how the tool works. It is this type of work that Chat’s creators had as their main objective: to make it your work partner, not a word calculator.

This is because, as you will realize, there is an essential element missing for them to work well: the specificity that only you will bring. 

You noticed in the previous topic how important being specific is, especially because I used the example of the frozen food startup. I stuck with it for so long because for a prompt to be good, it needs to be specific. 

Then, you can see the result of each of these prompts using ChatGPT as you read the text. But the best thing is that you do a little review of them, adding points specific to your company and needs, ok? 

So without further ado, let’s look at 50 examples of ChatGPT prompts for B2B and B2C: 

To create briefings

Here, I have separated some ChatGPT prompts that will help you write a simple brief for any type of material. 

In fact, depending on the material, ChatGPT can do much of the briefing practically alone. You just need to adjust the prompt for your specific need. 

See 10 examples: 

  • Create a brief for a series of top-of-the-funnel emails. There will be 5 emails in total, all with a maximum of 150 words. Each describes the following topics: [INCLUDE TOPICS];
  • Create a brief for a social media posting campaign. There will be 10 posts in total following the same theme: [INSERT THEME]. Posts need to be simple, have a greater focus on copywriting and feature a maximum of one image per post; 
  • Create a brief for a 700-word blog post about [INSERT TOPIC]. Add the best SEO practices to this briefing, make divisions with headings 2, 3 and 4 and include at least 2 lists with bullet points; 
  • Create a briefing to prepare scripts for customer service in 3 different media: telephone, email and customer service chatbot ; 
  • Create a brief for a 4-sided folder, with a maximum of 300 words, an infographic and use of images taken from free banks; 
  • Create a brief for an animated video on YouTube. It should include narration and also guide the creation of a storyboard by the design team; 
  • Create a briefing for the production of an institutional video, which will include interviews with employees from the following departments: [DEPARTMENTS];
  • Create a brief for a birthday email, which must include a creative image, a photo of the birthday girl and a very emotional text about her experiences here at the company;

  • What type of publications can I make to attract the attention of the following persona: [PERSONA]; 
  • How can I improve my persona according to the following information about my target audience: [TARGET AUDIENCE];
  • Increase my persona based on this new target audience information: [PERSONA] – [TARGET AUDIENCE]; 
  • Make a guide on how to talk to my persona according to their main characteristics: [PERSONA];
  • Pretend to be my persona and I’ll ask you some questions: [PERSONA]; 
  • Organize my target audience study for a presentation to the board; 
  • Take this complete persona and create another one, dividing the persona in half: [PERSONA];
  • Based on this persona, suggest marketing strategies that will impact them in the media in which they consume the most content.

For metrics and business-related topics

ChatGPT is also great for offering you good references when writing material or even as a curiosity. 

It is always good, however, to do a very complete review of the results it delivers. Sometimes he gets very simple information wrong that ends up invalidating the entire reasoning behind it. 

Here are some ChatGPT prompts to do some good research and find great business-related metrics:

For creating emails

You may have noticed that I haven’t focused much on creating materials so far, right? 

This is because with the tools that the text has given you so far, especially the best ways to create a good ChatGPT prompt, you already have plenty of material to create your specific materials. 

It’s quite difficult to tell you exactly how to create a ChatGPT prompt for a material that only you know what it will be like. 

But at the same time, emails are one of the most common types of materials you produce, and some prompts will help you with more technical issues, not related to creativity. 

Let’s see some:
