The 20 Best Wix Apps You Can Use Today
Using Wix apps is essential when building a website on the platform.
These apps provide most of the functionalities your Wix site will have.
Remember, Wix is almost like a blank canvas: it allows you to create your site in a very simplified way, but you’ll need these apps to offer basic system features.
The thing is, there are different types of apps, just like with WordPress.
There are simple Wix apps, and there are more advanced ones. Some are free, while others are paid. Additionally, there are apps developed by Wix itself and those created by the community.
To navigate through all of this, I’ve put together two lists, each with 10 Wix apps, ranging from free ones to paid ones developed by the community.
But first, we need to talk about how Wix and its apps work. Let’s go:
How Does a Wix Site Work?

The way a Wix site works is also its biggest advantage compared to sites built with WordPress.
With Wix, you don’t need to do any programming: the entire structure is based on a drag-and-drop model—you choose elements and drag them directly onto the page.
The alternative would be using WordPress—but in that case, you’d need to manually build the site, creating styles via CSS, adding scripts via JS, etc.

This makes Wix sites much easier to create, while WordPress is far more complex.
At the same time, WordPress offers unparalleled freedom. Since you’re the one building the site, you can include whatever elements you want.
Wix’s advantage, on the other hand, is that anyone can create a website and get it up and running very quickly.
Wix apps serve two main purposes: they allow for extra customization and provide essential elements for specific types of sites—such as e-commerce, one of the most common site types on the platform.
That said, let’s dive deeper into how Wix apps actually work.
You’re about to find out. Let’s go:
How Do Wix Apps and Plugins Work?

As we mentioned, there are two main types of Wix apps.
The first type includes apps necessary for your site to function optimally. These are complementary apps that you’ll need depending on the type of site you’re building.
For example: if you’re creating an e-commerce site, there are Wix apps entirely dedicated to integrating payment gateways.
Or, if you’re building a standard website, there are Wix apps focused on adding banners, for example.
The second type consists of Wix apps that aren’t essential for the site to “work” but are still highly beneficial to install.
These include Wix apps for creating forms, capturing emails, chatbots, etc.
But there are also two other types of Wix apps we need to discuss further: those developed by the platform itself and those created by the community.
Let’s get into that now:
What Are Native Wix Plugins?
These are Wix apps created by Wix itself. All of them are free, and most are tied to essential usability and navigation features for your site.
Let’s say you’re building an e-commerce site on Wix and want to display Amazon products on your site. One catch: the Amazon seller account must be yours too. 😛
There’s a Wix app for that. Without this app, adding those products to your Wix site would be impossible.
Now, suppose you’re creating a website for your hotel. In that case, you’ll need Wix Hotels, a native Wix app that allows users to make reservations directly on your site.
Similarly, if this Wix app didn’t exist, making reservations through your site would be impossible.
Most of the apps created by Wix work this way. They help you build your site, and without them, your site would end up being too basic.
Today, there are native Wix apps for various functionalities, as Wix is committed to enabling users to create any type of website in any way they want within the platform.

What Are Wix Community Plugins?
Before we continue, let’s clarify one point: when we talk about the “Wix community,” we’re not necessarily referring to a large collaborative forum where everyone develops their own apps.
In reality, “community” here is more about other brands rather than individual developers.
Most Wix apps developed by the community are created by brands, either for marketing purposes or for integration.
For example, there’s a Wix email marketing app developed by Mailchimp.
For those who don’t use Mailchimp, it serves as a great introduction to the tool.
For those who already do, it functions as an integration between the two platforms, connecting your email marketing system directly to your site and allowing contact imports, among other features.
But in most cases, these apps are paid—just like WordPress plugins, which are also created by brands.
More on that below:
Are Wix Plugins Paid or Free?
Wix offers both paid and free plugins. There are also Wix apps that, while paid, offer a free trial period.
All apps developed by Wix itself are free. And they have to be, since many of them are tied to the basic construction of the site, as we discussed earlier.
Meanwhile, most community-developed apps are paid.
This is because these plugins are more specialized and provide additional benefits to both your visitors and your business—especially in the case of marketing apps.
But how exactly does the installation process work? Is it simple or complicated?
Let’s go over that now.
How to Install a Plugin on Your Wix Site

I promise—this will be the last topic before we go over the Wix apps you can install on your site.
We needed to cover these basics first to understand how Wix apps actually work.
Here, I want to provide a super quick guide on installing apps in Wix. It’ll be brief, not because I’m rushing, but because the process is genuinely simple.
The standard way to add apps to your Wix site is through the Editor. There are other methods, which we’ll discuss later in the article, but this is the most basic and intuitive one.
In fact, I’ll use Wix’s own instructions for adding an app through the Editor. Check them out below:
- Access the Wix App Market:
- Editor: Click the Apps icon on the left side of the Editor.
- Editor X: Click the App Market icon in the top bar of Editor X.
- Browse through apps or use the search bar to find a specific app.
- Click on an app to learn more about it.
- Click + Add to Site to install the app.
- Click Allow and Add to confirm.
10 Free Wix Plugins to Install on Your Site Today
Now’s the moment! Let’s start our list of Wix apps with the simpler ones—those created by Wix itself and aimed at basic actions on your site.
I’ve put together a general selection of the most essential ones for your site’s functionality. Later, in the list of paid apps developed by the community, we’ll go over some more advanced applications.
Even though these apps are simple, I’ve made sure to include some hidden gems among Wix’s offerings.
So, even if you already have a Wix site and use some apps here and there, this list will still be highly valuable to you.
In each of the items, I’ve included a quick video showing the main features of each app whenever available.
When not, I’ve added some screenshots to help you better understand how they work.
Let’s get started now:
Wix Members Area

This is one of the most basic Wix apps on the platform: it allows you to offer user registration and password login on your site.
It already comes with everything ready: user profile creation, email confirmation, site pages that only open with login, activity management, etc.
Everything you need in a login system is already built into the Wix Members Area.
The alternative on a WordPress site would be installing a third-party plugin, which can be somewhat risky since WP is open source—data leaks can happen.
Or, to avoid plugins, you’d have to create your own login and password system, which takes time and requires a qualified professional.
Additionally, the Members Area allows for the creation of a small community, as users can follow each other and communicate.
This app is free and can be installed on any Wix site starting from the VIP plan.
Wix Bookings

Bookings is essential for any Wix site that works with a scheduling system.
It’s especially useful for sites offering many online classes, workshops, webinars, and lead magnets available within a certain period.
With Bookings, you can create individual or group classes and sessions, marking them both on your calendar and on the calendars of your visitors and leads.
Think, for example, of a psychologist who just built her site. Through Bookings, she can offer appointment reservations directly on the site and even receive payments for those reservations via the mobile app.
Any business with a Wix site that works with any type of scheduling needs Bookings—no question about it.
Now let’s move on to another essential app for those selling services online:

Wix Pricing Plans

Plans & Pricing does exactly what its name suggests: it lets you create and manage subscription plans directly on your site.
This app is especially necessary for those working with SaaS sales, for example, happening directly through the site.
At the same time, it works for any type of subscription. You can offer a paid newsletter, for example, or link Paid Plans to the Members Area app to create premium access plans for your site’s content.
Instagram Feed

This is another very basic Wix plugin, displaying your latest Instagram posts directly on your site.
There’s not much to explain here. The app is straightforward and doesn’t do anything particularly different.
However, one hidden feature that few people use is linking posts directly to your product pages.
With this feature, you can, for example, insert reels of your product in use directly on the sales page, going far beyond just simple photos.
Wix Restaurants (Menu & Orders)

If you’re building a restaurant website, these two apps are essential for a great browsing experience.
With these two apps, you can create an entire site dedicated to service and delivery, including both the digital menu and the ability to place orders directly through the site.
On the orders side, you get SMS notifications, synchronization of online and phone orders, support for multiple payment methods, and the ability to set a minimum order amount and define delivery areas.
With the Menu app, you can create standardized and customized dishes, add category tags, and create as many menus as needed.
Wix File Share

This is one of the Wix apps that often gets overlooked—until you actually need it.
Wix allows you to host files directly on your site, making it easier to share them.
The uses for this app are quite specific and vary significantly. But for those who need it, it’s indispensable.
Think, for example, of a content marketing campaign offering an e-book. You’ll need to host that e-book somewhere, right? It’s better to keep it directly on Wix’s server, which is more secure and faster.
You might also be selling a publication and need to make it available in a simple way.
Or even a simpler use case: a manual for a product you’re selling.
In any case, all these uses require a file-sharing system, and the Wix File Share app does exactly that.
Wix Get Funding

There are some free Wix apps that rival many WordPress plugins.
Wix Get Funding is one of them. It allows you to run a crowdfunding campaign directly on your site without needing to integrate third-party sites and complicate the process for everyone.
It’s that simple! Just install the app, configure your PayPal account, and you’re ready to use your site like a GoFundMe.
But note: Get Funding works only with PayPal.
Wix Podcast Player

If your site is entirely focused on offering a podcast, you’ll definitely want people to be able to listen to it on your site, right?
A Wix site offers this possibility through the Podcast Player app. Sure, Spotify is where most people listen to podcasts, but keeping your audience on your site is much better.
That’s because, on your site, you can implement various marketing strategies and have greater control over how many people are accessing and listening.
You can also add your podcast to an RSS feed (not many people use this anymore, but still) and upload both audio-only and video episodes.
Wix Comments

Wix Comments is another basic Wix app that lets you add simple functions to your site.
It’s essentially a comment system for your product and category pages.
With it, you can create a comment section and customize it as you prefer within Wix’s limitations.
It also allows you to set up reactions for comments, with emojis, upvotes, and downvotes if you like.
Additionally, Wix Comments lets you pin the most relevant comments to the top of the comment section.
10 Wix Plugins Created by the Community

Well, as has been clear so far, the Wix plugins created by Wix itself are quite basic and are related to the core functionality of your site.
As we discussed, this is how a Wix site is built: you start with a blank page and enhance it with the apps Wix provides to make it functional.
But analyzing these apps, it’s clear that they are well-designed and offer features beyond what you might expect.
That’s the reality of a Wix site: it may seem simple on the surface, but all the apps created for it are quite robust and offer features you wouldn’t expect from such a service.
Now we need to discuss community-created apps. Most of them are paid, but many offer free plans as well.
These are not mandatory, but some provide essential features that are missing from Wix’s default offerings.
Shall we learn more?
Mega Animated Announcement Bar
MAAB is essentially a Wix plugin that adds a small animated bar to your site, which you can place anywhere you like—both in terms of positioning and on specific pages of your site.
Watching the video above makes it easy to understand what it does. These are small banners that display relevant information on your site, such as “free shipping” or “promotion.”
These banners are very short, reaching a maximum height of 15 pixels. But even though they are simple, they make a big difference in your site’s layout.
Poptin
Poptin has appeared before in our list of WordPress plugins.
Its functionality is quite simple: it inserts pop-ups directly on your site, all triggered by user actions.
These pop-ups can feature any copy you want and also allow for the insertion of a CTA with a link to any page on your site or even an external page—if you need to direct visitors to an external Landing Page, for example.
On Wix, Poptin offers several different types of pop-ups, from the most basic to the most interactive.
For your pop-up needs, Poptin is a very safe bet. Watch the video above to better understand how it works.
AI Product Photos and Images
This Wix app is still new, so keep in mind that some features may not be working 100% yet, okay?
What this Wix plugin does is bring AI power to your product photos, especially in editing.
For example, you can remove photo backgrounds with just a few commands, without needing to know Photoshop.
It is also possible to add other elements to the photos if necessary, creating an entirely new background for the product.
It’s worth testing for free!
Zakeke
Now, if you want to take your product presentation a step further, you need to choose Zakeke.
Zakeke is a 3D rendering tool that allows your customers to manipulate your products according to the customizations you allow.
For example: If you sell a white handbag but also offer it in 10 different colors, instead of uploading a photo for each color, you can let the customer choose the color, and Zakeke does the rest.
The example used in their video illustrates even better what the tool does. You can offer an engagement ring model and allow customers to personalize it with their name.
All of this happens directly on your site, within the product page itself!
And Zakeke also supports augmented reality, offering even more functionalities for your customers at the time of purchase.
TWIPLA
Any site indexed by Google can have its data viewed through Google Analytics 4. However, TWIPLA significantly simplifies the process of checking these analytics.
This is important because GA4 is a large tool that integrates multiple analytics functions simultaneously—Google Ads campaigns also appear there, for example.
TWIPLA simplifies this data, prioritizing information specifically related to your site.
Its interface is also more user-friendly, and you won’t need to configure events in Google Analytics to measure interactions on a specific page—TWIPLA comes pre-configured for that.
In short: for those who want a more focused analytics tool that works better with Wix, TWIPLA is the best choice.
But don’t forget that learning about Google Analytics is also a great alternative—after all, it’s completely free.
What do you think about this list of Wix apps?
Once again, remember that Leadster is also available on the platform, okay? You can install our chatbot on your Wix site even during your free trial.
In fact, that’s exactly what I recommend you do: start your trial, integrate it into your Wix site, and see for yourself what we can offer you. 😉
