It\u2019s created with creativity in mind and truly impacts people\u2019s routines. There are specific characteristics defined by various authors and marketing researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We will delve into each of these characteristics and triggers of Guerrilla Marketing. Guerrilla Marketing can take different forms, impacting thousands of people at once or just one or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be done on the street, inside a space, and can last just a few hours or extend over months and even years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the virtual reality game created for the launch of the movie \u201cThe Dark Knight\u201d in 2008 involved over 650,000 players over several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the \u201cclues\u201d even featured 5 planes in the sky writing a phone number. The campaign was so extensive that fans even created a Wiki with its history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So, Guerrilla Marketing is like a state of mind<\/strong> \ud83d\udc7b It can present itself in various forms as long as its main principles are respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What forms are these? Many brands believe that to do Guerrilla Marketing, you only need to come up with something creative and put it out on the street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it\u2019s not that simple. <strong>Every Guerrilla Marketing action that aims for the best possible results needs to consider these five fundamental characteristics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They serve two purposes: to describe an action as guerrilla or not and to ensure that actions have the maximum effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These characteristics were initially proposed by J<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com.br\/Guerrilla-Marketing-Inexpensive-Strategies-Business\/dp\/0618785914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ay Conrad Levinson in his 1984 book &#8220;Guerrilla Marketing.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, just a quick note: this book is essential for anyone planning guerrilla actions and also for anyone who just loves marketing and advertising in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s dive into these characteristics now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unexpected<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve already touched on how Guerrilla Marketing needs to be unexpected by definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it\u2019s expected, part of the experience is lost. Or even the entire experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example:<strong> if you do a tasting event inside a supermarket, that\u2019s not guerrilla marketing; it\u2019s just trade marketing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unexpected element is a large part of the experience. Without it, you\u2019re just doing advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And there\u2019s nothing wrong with advertising. The point is that Guerrilla Marketing has much bigger concerns than just showcasing the brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It creates an experience. And for that, it needs a second element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interactive<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Guerrilla Marketing to be effective, it needs to be interactive. Above all, you need to allow and encourage the target audience to engage with your brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interactivity doesn\u2019t come by chance. <strong>The more senses you stimulate in a marketing action, the greater the chances of remaining in the memory of the impacted individuals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider a billboard, for example. Do you remember anything that was written on the last one you saw? Probably not, and one reason is that only one sense was engaged \u2014 sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing \u2014 these are the five human senses, and all of them present significant opportunities for Guerrilla Marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But be cautious! You don\u2019t need to activate all senses at once or separately. You can, for instance, activate two or three. The important thing is to have interactivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And interaction doesn\u2019t have to be only around these senses. It can be in more mundane forms, like seeing an item and taking it home, or receiving a call from someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent example is Spotify Wrapped 2023, which rewards top listeners of artists with a \u201ccall\u201d at the end of the user&#8217;s musical recap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guerrilla Marketing that isn\u2019t creative doesn\u2019t feel like Guerrilla Marketing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance: Petz has been running an adoption space in all its stores for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s nice, interesting, and very cool of the company. But at the same time, it\u2019s not creative \u2014 no one stops and thinks, \u201cWow, Petz is doing this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, Petz would do such an action; it\u2019s 100% in line with their operations. So much so that it\u2019s almost obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, if Petz sponsored a wedding for two adopted dogs in a daycare, opened it to the public, and held a real canine reception, the story would be completely different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Guerrilla Marketing doesn\u2019t look like Guerrilla Marketing, it\u2019s just marketing. And traditional marketing \u2014 whether physical or digital \u2014 doesn\u2019t have the advantages that guerrilla actions bring: mainly the great potential for sharing and earned media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Simplicity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Guerrilla Marketing actions need to have a concept that is simple to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But this doesn\u2019t mean that the actions themselves need to be simple in execution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take the example we mentioned earlier with Batman. The action was extremely complex, both in its execution by the agency and in the public\u2019s participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet it was delivered as an augmented reality game \u2014 an ARG. That\u2019s its concept: you\u2019re in a game where the goal is to discover clues to eventually be \u201chired\u201d by the Joker\u2019s gang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cost-Effective<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Returning to the Batman example: the action was very expensive and even involved acrobatic planes in the sky. How can such an action still have a good return?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, it did: it was the highest-grossing film of 2008, and after 15 years, it\u2019s still the 47th highest-grossing film of all time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost-effectiveness is related to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/getleadster.com\/blog\/marketing-roi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>ROI \u2014 Return on Investment.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any Guerrilla Marketing action can be very cheap or very expensive.
